Southwest Virginia Full Day Professionally Guided Fly Fishing trip for 12-2

$325.00 Give the gift of Fly Fishing for a guided fly fishing trip for 1-2 people to White Top Laurel in Southwest Virginia

Located in Southwest Virginia, White Top Laurel is Virginia's Blue Ribbon Trout stream. Located right on the Virginia Creeper Trail which stretches 34 miles from Abingdon thru Damascus to the NC state line near Whitetop Virginia. The Virginia Creeper Trail began as a Native-American footpath. Later, the European pioneers, as well as early explorer Daniel Boone, used the trail. Shortly after 1900, W.B. Mingea constructed the Virginia-Carolina Railroad from Abingdon to Damascus. In 1905 the Hassinger Lumber Company extended the line to Konnarock and Elkland, North Carolina. In its day, the line hauled lumber, iron ore, supplies, and passengers. It got its nickname, Virginia Creeper, from the early steam locomotives that struggled slowly up the railroad's steep grades.

Come along and we will fish the special Regulations section of White Top Laurel. The special regulation area includes two sections. Prior to 1999, the lower mile of Green Cove Creek plus Whitetop Laurel Creek (to the first bridge above the village of Taylors Valley) made up the special regulation area. In 1999, an additional section (that extends from the Forest Service boundary below Taylors Valley, 2 miles downstream to the mouth of Straight Creek) was added. Whitetop Laurel is one of Virginia’s largest and most beautiful wild trout streams. Wild rainbow trout dominate, with most adults in the 7—14 inch class. A few wild brown trout provide occasional trophy fish.

Within the Special regulation sections of Whitetop Laurel Creek there is a 12-inch minimum size limit and a six fish-per-day creel limit, in addition to a single hook artificial lure only regulation.

The trip includes:
